In 1997, the first training program in conflict transformation was provided by the Cambodian Centre for Conflict Resolution. Graduates of that program include both NGO and government personnel. They decided to form an alliance which could enable them to continue their solidarity, further build their relationships across government and civil society boundaries and undertake projects for preventing violence and building peace in Cambodia. In 1999 they offered a training program to the Municipality of Phnom Penh in how to effectively resolve conflicts. The members of the Alliance did so as volunteers without any donor support. This solidified their commitment to each other and so they registered as an organization officially in 2002 after carrying out several training programs and seminars. Today, ACT is specializes under three core projects: • Interfaith Initiative for Peace in Cambodia • Inter-Ethnic Peacebuilding • Multiple Approaches to Conflict Transformation
In 1997, a conflict transformation program was provided by a British-based organization Responding to Conflict (RTC). Graduates of that program included both staff of nongovernmental organizations and government personnel; saw the need to equip Cambodians with the necessary knowledge and skills in conflict resolution. Group agreed to form an alliance which could enable them to continue building solidarity, expand relationships across government and civil society boundaries and undertake projects for the prevention of violence and expansion of peace in Cambodia. In 1999, they offered a training program to the Municipality of Phnom Penh on conflict resolution. In 2002, established as Alliance for Conflict Transformation.
