Background
The Cambodia Climate Change Network (CCCN), formerly National Climate Change Network (NCCN), is a Cambodian non-governmental organization established in August 2009. It was initiated by several NGOs, such as Oxfam and Save Cambodia’s Wildlife, driven by the will to bring about a more collective civil society approach to address the challenges and opportunities of climate change in Cambodia. CCCN first developed as an informal network where Members could meet and discuss issues. In 2012, the Members decided to formalize the Network in order to advance the aims of bringing together local and international NGOs, associations, private organizations and individuals to further develop and coordinate the work on climate change in Cambodia. CCCN was formally registered with the Cambodian Ministry of Interior in July 2012, following which an official Board of Directors was elected. Formal membership application has been open since then, with currently 35 Member organizations and 5 Observers. CCCN Members are brought together by the belief that global climate change is a priority - but one sometimes imposed without full consideration of other local priorities and issues. They work to allow both climate change and local issues to be taken into consideration in order to develop projects that benefit Cambodian communities, while preserving the environment.

Vision
Cambodia will have well-informed and empowered citizens brought into a strong civil society able to address and influence climate change issues.
Goal
to allow for the development of a well-informed and empowered civil society able to address and influence climate change issues in Cambodia. We believe that a strong understanding of climate change is the necessary first step to enable local communities to make informed choices, to get involved in environmental issues and to develop sustainable livelihoods. This understanding is even more important for marginalized and poor communities, as it allows them to get a better control over their lives and livelihoods. We also believe that cooperation and coordination are essential to advance an efficient and coherent action on climate change.
