Background

Sobbhana is a foundation established by Her Royal Highness, Princess Norodom Marie Ranariddh of Cambodia with the intent of inspiring women to preserve cherished artistic traditions while at the same time establishing a sense of identity and independence The Foundation was established in 1985, named Samdech Rasmi Women’s Foundation, at the refugee Camp on Cambodian-Thai Border. In1992, the association moved to Phnom Penh. The name was change to Sobbhana Women’s Foundation in commemoration of HRH Samdech Rasmi Sobbhana, His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk aunt, who had devoted all her life to promote the role of Khmer women.
