Overview

DARAC provided treatment/detoxification to the drug addict in the DARAC treatment / detoxification center, the treatment included psychological support, education, awareness sessions for improvement of life skills and referrals. The activities were primarily carried out via one-on-one counselling, group discussions and entertainment with an aim of helping the drug addict to find out the personal solutions and enable to access their own ‘life plan through rehabilitation program, DARAC organized the social rehabilitation program to increase the ability and capacity of drug addict and after they got physical treatment/detoxification, they go through the rehabilitation program in order to improve self esteem, decision-making and their responsibility is improved to organize own plan, the social rehabilitation was included aftercare and relapse prevention program within their community and the family therapy is organized to share information and understanding to the family of drug addict aimed to reduce the discrimination within their community and able to provide the support to the drug user or addict that led drug user and drug addict change their behavior. DARAC organized the treatment/detoxification and rehabilitation program to respond to the needs and does it as a voluntary and compulsory treatment/detoxification program to relief physical and psychological pain and to change from the difficult condition to become for the better.

Background

Drug Addict Relief Association of Cambodia (DARAC) has formed as a non-governmental association/organization, non-religion and help multi-nationality. It was founded in 2005 by a group of Cambodian social workers and medical team wishing to work as a team to provide support and reduce high risks for its target population, vulnerable communities in Cambodia related to drug use and addiction. The association was founded with members contributing to a fund to help the target populations and commencing program activities. Drug Addict Relief Association of Cambodia (DARAC) registered with the Ministry of Interior in August 2005.
