Mission

AUA serves to empower people living with HIV/AIDS in Cambodia through education, advocacy, leadership and mutual support. Our mission is to foster a more active and informed community of people living with HIV/AIDS who are better able to effectively adhere to their treatment, advocate for quality healthcare and respond to the challenges in their lives. AUA's mission is strongly informed by and strategically aligned with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s National 2013- 2017 Strategic Plan, a framework that unites stakeholders in their work to scale up HIV/AIDS facilities, eliminate HIV/AIDS discrimination and reduce the number of new HIV infections.

Vision

Imagine a world where all people have equal access to quality care and the resources they need to manage their own health. Imagine a world free from HIV/AIDS-related stigma and discrimination. In Cambodia, many people struggle to access the most basic diagnostic, treatment and preventative services required to maintain holistic health and lead a healthy and fulfilling life. AUA’s vision is that all Cambodian people, especially those living with HIV/AIDS, will have full access to universal rights, dignity and peace.

Goal

1. To address vital gaps in the services currently provided by Cambodia’s healthcare system that undermine patient health. 2. To eliminate some of the major barriers that prevent economically or socially disadvantaged Cambodians from accessing HIV/AIDS diagnosis, care and medication. 3. To empower people living with HIV/AIDS through education so they can better understand their illness, treatment options and the full range of services available to them. 4. To advocate for the rights of people living with HIV/AIDS and through accountability and education, create a zero-tolerance environment for HIV/AIDS-related discrimination. 5. To mobilize social support for people living with HIV/AIDS by eradicating HIV/AIDS-related stigma in Cambodia. 6. To coordinate with like-minded NGOs, civil society and the government sector to ensure a more effective and patient-oriented response to Cambodia’s HIV/AIDS epidemic.
