Cesvi, established in 1985, is a secular, non-governmental, international humanitarian organization which is working in more than 30 countries throughout the world to reduce suffering and work towards the ultimate elimination of poverty in the world’s poorest countries through the mobilization and active participation of the recipients of aid.
CESVI has been operational in Cambodia since 1996, implementing humanitarian activities in the sector of public health, in joint coordination and continuous interaction with local authorities. In the country, CESVI has mainly focused its efforts on promoting primary health care at both community and health services levels and increasing sustainable access to water and sanitation. The aim of CESVI is to support service delivery and capacity building of the targeted HCs, through technical assistance and on the job training, and to supply complementary equipment and material. CESVI’s contribution to the social development of the country started with various initiatives in different provinces
CESVI’S mission is of enhancing social and economic development of rural/isolated communities, through a coordinated set of community based livelihood improvement initiatives and of system strengthening actions. To this end it is strongly committed to promote solidarity with developing countries by making an independent, sustainable, environmentally – friendly contribution towards their social and economic development. CESVI has been involved in many kinds of project all over the world including environmental conservation, rural development, technical training, provision of and support to health services and income generation.
In the values which guide Cesvi, the moral principle of human solidarity and the ideal of social justice are transformed into humanitarian aid and development, reinforcing an affirmation of universal human rights. Cesvi believes strongly that helping the underprivileged in developing countries, or those in difficulty due to war, natural calamities and environmental disasters, does not help only those who suffer, but contributes also to the well-being of all of us on the planet, our “common home” to be looked after for future generations.
