ABILIS Foundation - A development fund, founded by people with disabilities in Finland in 1998. Its mandate is to support activities that empower disabled people in developing countries.
ActionAid International (AAI) - Now working involved in over 40 countries worldwide. AAI works in partnership with CBOs, NGOs and people's organisations in both urban and rural communities.
Adopt-A-Minefield (AAM) - A campaign of the United Nations Association of the USA , which engages individuals, community groups, and businesses in the United Nations' effort to resolve the global landmine crisis.
Asian Development Bank (ADB) - A multilateral development finance institution dedicated to reducing poverty in Asia and the Pacific. ADB was established by 31 member countries in 1966.
Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) - Part of the Australian Government. AusAID supports various funding schemes in Cambodia.
Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation - Is committed to promoting greater equity in global health, education, public libraries, and support for at-risk families.
Canada International Development Agency (CIDA) - Has been present in Cambodia since 1991 and started with a post conflict aid program.
CARE International - A board based humanitarian aid organisation which has been working in Cambodia since 1973 focussing on the most vulnerable individuals, households and communities. CARE is an implementer, not a donor as such, partnering in development with local organisations.
Catholic Association for Overseas Development (CAFOD) - Raises funds from the Catholic community in England and Wales , the UK government and the general public so that it can: promote long-term development; respond to emergencies; raise public awareness of the causes of poverty; speak out on behalf of poor communities; promote social justice in witness to Christian faith and gospel values.
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) - Was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and disadvantaged outside the country.
Christian Aid (CA) - An agency of churches in the UK and Ireland. CA works wherever the need is greatest, irrespective of religion or race. Inspired by Christian values, CA believes that all people have the right to a full and decent life.
Christian Reformed World Relief Committee (CRWRC) - Established in 1962 by the Christian Reformed Church in North America as a way for the denomination to respond to the needs of people living in poverty around the world.
Church World Service (CWS) - Began its activities in Cambodia in 1979 and was one of the first humanitarian organisations to work in the country after the fall of the Khmer Rouge regime. Three grants: Holistic Support, Small Project Fund (SPF), CNGO Network Support.
Concern Worldwide - A non-denominational and non-government organisation, formed in 1968, with headquarters based in Dublin, Ireland.
Cooperation International pour le Development et la Solidarite (CIDSE) - An International NGO working in Cambodia since 1979. CIDSE works directly with communities and in partnership with CNGOs and CBOs.
DanChurchAid (DCA) - Initiated its Human Rights engagement in Cambodia in 1997, which was divided into three areas: human rights, prevention of abuse against women and capacity building of NGOs. Two grants: Civic and Political Space Programme, Food Security.
The Dark & Light Blind Care Foundation - Founded 1982 and started as a small "family foundation". Dark & Light's mission statement is based on bible where equality for all people and support for people in need is emphasised.
Deutsche Welthungerhilfe/German Agro Action (DWHH/GAA) - A private, non-profit, non-partisan and non-religious aid organisation. It works with a voluntary board under German patronage. It has executed around 5000 projects in more than 70 countries with more than one billion Euro since its inception in 1962.
Diakonia - A Swedish church based development cooperation organisation committed to reduce poverty and facilitate community development and empowerment. Diakonia provides project support to about 50 countries worldwide. Two grants: Human Rights and Democracy Programme, Integrated Rural Development Programme.
The East West Management Institute (EWMI) - Human Rights in Cambodia Project (HRCP) is a three-year, USAID-funded, cooperative agreement that aims to improve the enforcement of human rights in Cambodia.
Royal Danish Embassy and Development Cooperation Section (DANIDA) - Established on the 3rd September 2002 under the Royal Danish Embassy in Bangkok and is mandated to prepare, plan, coordinate and supervise the implementation of the Country Programme funded by DANIDA.
The French Embassy - Worked essentially with French NGOs based on advice and following of projects funded by Ministry of Foreign Affair in France. The Social Development Fund (SDF) is direct aid for underprivileged people.
Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany - The programme for the promotion of micro scale projects is an additional programme of the German Embassy for carrying out technical cooperation in Cambodia.
Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Cambodia - The Japanese Government offers a financial assistance scheme for development projects designed to meet the diverse needs of developing countries.
Royal Netherlands Embassy - Providing €2 - 2,5 million in development assistance to Cambodia every year since 1998. Dutch development co-operation has mainly been channelled through multilateral organisations and NGOs.
European Commission delegation to Cambodia (EC) - Established in accordance with the Treaty on European Union (Maastricht). There are currently 25 Member States. Six grants: Aid for Poverty Related Diseases , Co-financing with European NGOs, Co-financing with European NGOs for Food Security, European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) MACRO project , European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) MICRO projects, Environment in Developing Countries and Tropical Forest.
European's Forum on International Cooperation - membership organisation of European agencies funding or carrying out work internationally. Features an online directory of members.
Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst (EED) - Organisation of Protestant Churches (EKD) in Germany. By means of financial contributions, personnel involvement, scholarships and consultancy services EED supports the development work of churches, Christian organisations and the private sector.
Family Health International (FHI) - Opened its Cambodia office in 1998 and, with funds from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), launched the Cambodia IMPACT program. FHI supports government, NGOs and community partners across the country to implement activities.
Fauna & Flora International (FFI) - In 2001, the UK Government launched a new scheme, the Flagship Species Fund. The Fund is a joint initiative between the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) and Fauna & Flora International (FFI).
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) - Leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where all nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy. Two grants: Techical Cooperation Programme (TCP), TeleFood Special Fund (TeleFood).
Ford Motor Company and R.M. Asia Co. Ltd - The Ford Motor Company Conservation & Environmental Grants is one of the world's largest environmental and conservation grant schemes, offering a total prize money of USD1,000,000 in over 50 participating countries.
Forum Syd (Swedish NGO Centre for Development Co-operation) - A Swedish Non-Governmental Organisation with offices in Dar Es Salaam, Guatemala City, Harare, Managua, Phnom Penh and Stockholm. The organisation was established in July 1995 after taking over all the work of the NGO Information Centre (BIFO) and the Swedish Volunteer Service (SVS). Two grants: Democracy & Human Rights, DEmocracy & Human Rights (small scale funding).

The Global Fund (GF) - Created to finance a dramatic turn-around in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. These diseases kill over 6 million people in the world each year, and the numbers are growing.
Global Fund For Children (GFC) - Education is a basic human right of all children, regardless of their individual circumstances.
The Global Fund for Women (GFW) - Supports women's groups that advance the human rights of women and girls. GFW strengthens women's groups based outside the United States by providing small grants for operating and project expenses.
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) - A non-profit, Christian housing ministry and a grassroots movement. Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, race and religion to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
Heifer International - Active in Cambodia since 1984 though Church World Service (CWS) and American Friends Service Committee (AFSC).
Heinrich Boll Foundation (HBF) - Began operations at the end of 1993 with the cultural heritage and development programme at the Buddhist Institute. HBF’s biggest project in Cambodia is with Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) which embodies trying to establish a research culture.
The Interchurch Organisation for Development Co-operation (ICCO) - Work towards a world where poverty and injustice are no longer present. ICCO has its roots in the Dutch Protestant-Christian churches and has been funding projects in Cambodia since 1974 through the World Council of Churches.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) - A member of the World Bank Group with headquarters in Washington DC, USA. The Grassroots Business Initiative (GBI) seeks to strengthen and scale up innovative social enterprises that create sustainable economic opportunities for the poor, empowering and engaging them as entrepreneurs, consumers, employees and suppliers.
International Organization for Migration (IOM) - Strives to meet the needs of migrants and governments in relation to both humanitarian and development-oriented migration issues.
The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) - Also called World Conservation Union started in 1948 and works towards conserving nature. IUCN is implementing projects in Cambodia (and the Mekong area).
Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) - Founded in 1974 as an implementation agency for technical assistance of Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA)
KIOS - The Finnish NGO Foundation for Human Rights - Three factors can be identified as responsible for Finland's progress from reluctance and restraint to maintaining a responsive human rights policy: opportunity, need and will.
Mama Cash - One of the very few international women's rights funds working at global level with a critical focus on cutting-edge issues. The strength of Mama Cash stems from the belief that women worldwide know both how to prioritize their struggles and have the best solutions to address them.
The McKnight Foundation - A private philanthropic organisation founded in 1953 by William L. McKnight and his wife, Maude L. McKnight. The Southeast Asia Grants Program is one part of the McKnight Foundation's overall modest international grant making.
Mekong Private Sector Development Facility - Funding and support for the private sector. Site contains an online searchable list of consultants.
The Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) - An office in Cambodia since 1981. MCC worked closely with the government in the early years and later initiated its own projects.
New Zealand Agency for International Development (NZAID) - Created on 1 July 2002 after a ministerial-commissioned consultant's review of New Zealand's Official Development Assistance (NZODA) recommended that aid should have a more distinct identity, separate from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).
Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) - Established as a membership-based solidarity organisation in 1939 by the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions. Today, NPA is one of the largest Norwegian NGOs with a global presence in over 30 countries.
Ockenden International Cambodia (OIC) - A British-based NGO that was founded in 1951 to support refugees, displaced people, returnees, and their host communities. Ockenden started its operation in Cambodia in 1997.
Oxfam America (OA) - Committed to the belief that everyone should be able to pursue a sustainable livelihood, have access to adequate social services, be assured of physical security and personal integrity, and be free to exercise a full range of political and cultural rights. Four grants: Community Finance Program (CFP), Mekong River Basin Management Program (MRBM), Food and Income Security Program (FIS), Trade Program.
Oxfam Great Britain (Oxfam GB) - Started in 1979 with an operational program and switched to working through others in the early 1990s.
Oxfam Hong Kong - Works with poor people regardless of race, sex, religion or politics to find lasting solutions to problems of poverty and suffering, many of which are caused by exploitation and injustice.
Pact Cambodia - A n international not for profit organisation working to build the capacity of local leaders and organisations in a variety of sectors important to the development of Cambodia.
Plan Cambodia - Focuses on community development placing children in the center of the work. Plan is a non-religious and non-political organisation working.
Resource Alliance - The Resource Alliance is an international network working to build the capacity of not for profit organisations to mobilise funds and local resources for their causes. Can register for free to gain access to online resources
The Rockefeller Foundation - A knowledge-based, global, philanthropic foundation with a commitment to enrich and sustain the lives and livelihoods of the poor and excluded people through out the world, giving them a voice in the process.
SeaWorld Busch Gardens Conservation Fund (SWBG) - Inspired by the desire to help protect animals and get involved in wildlife conservation. With limited resources the Board will concentrate on those programs with the most significant and sustainable conservation impact.
Siemenpuu Foundation - Founded in 2002 by 15 Finnish NGOs or Foundations working with questions linked to the environment and development.
Stichting Kinderpostzegels Nederland (SKN) - Concerned with raising and allocating funds for the benefit of children under the age of 18 in the Netherlands and abroad.
Terre des Hommes Germany - Priority concerns are assistance to child labourers (including children under prostitution), street children, children in armed conflicts, education and training, health and nutrition, and community organisation and development.
Terre des Hommes Netherlands (TdH-NL) - Founded in 1965 and is based in the Hague, Netherlands. TdH is a member of the International Federation Terre des Hommes in Geneva, Switzerland.
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) - Provides food and a limited amount of funds to cover the costs directly related to food delivery and distribution.
United Nation's Development Programme (UNDP) - Set up in 1992. UNDP is the UN's global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) - Established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide.
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) - Founded in 1969, is the UN agency that specialises in population related activities. Working in over 140 countries around the world, UNFPA supports governments in addressing reproductive health and population issues.
United States Agency for International Development (USAID) - Active in Cambodia for over 10 years. The program began with humanitarian assistance. Currently USAID focuses on 3 sectors: health, education and good governance.
World Bank - The small grants program (SmGP) complements and facilitates the social development agenda of the World Bank through its focus on civic engagement.
World Bank Development Marketplace (DM) - The Development Marketplace approach complements the World Bank Group’s broader work by focusing on grassroots initiatives and working directly with local organisations that implement projects on the ground.
