Capacity Development and Learning

 

CCC offers a range of capacity development and learning opportunities for NGO staff. These are developed for a variety of target audiences, including CCC member organizations, NGOs applying for the NGO Governance & Professional Practice Voluntary Certification System, and NGO staff conducting fieldwork and/or research.

• Courses to develop the capacity of NGO staff to think critically, plan and conduct research, write and present findings

• Learning forums for CCC member organizations, encouraging peer learning and network-building

• Courses to strength organizational development and program management

• Mentoring and coaching for NGOs applying for the NGO Governance & Professional Practice Voluntary Certification System


Overview of Capacity Development and Learning Programs

Applied Participatory Action Research in Organization (APARO) course Understanding key concepts and theories of development approaches and practices, PAR and Project Cycle Management (PCM) and organizational development effectiveness, field practice, analysis, report writing and presentation. NGOs in the Northeast and Northwest that have completed the Community Course, and with staff conducting field work

Applied Research in Organization (ARO) course

Understanding key concepts and theories of development approaches and social change, Project Cycle Management (PCM), foundation to research, research design and methodology, analysis, report writing and presentation. Northeast and Northwest NGOs working in the development sector

Collectively the above courses aim to:

• strengthen capacity in research and analytical skills on development issues in response to the changing dynamics of Cambodia's civil society;

• increase participants' ability to effectively contribute to the effective development of their organization and programs;

• influence the participants' thinking and practices on development for the empowerment of local communities and in response to Cambodia's rapidly changing society;

• enable participants to more effectively contribute to programming and discussion in their organization and public debates.

 

 


NGO Management
Monitoring and Evaluation Forum Debate on concept of M&E, M&E framework development and implementation, baseline assessment, M&E tools, most significant changes, outcome mapping, how to conduct internal evaluation, impacts evaluation. CCC members NGOs Basic Intro In-depth
Finance Forum Debate and learn on concept and principles of sound financial management, financial policy development and implementation, international financial reporting standards, International auditing standards, how to build reserves, strategies for financial sustainability, how to make your stakeholders happy with your financial management, how to smoothly navigate annual auditing, internal and external auditing and control. CCC members NGOs

Human Resources Management (HRM) Forum Debate and learn on concepts of effective human resource management, Cambodian laws related HRM, HR policies, HR planning and strategies, performance management, compensation and benefits, recruitment and hiring, staff separation. CCC members NGOs

Information and Communications Technology Platform

Debate and learn on IT career development, IT security, IT policy in workplace, information sharing and collaboration systems,  new global trends of ICT, VOIP/teleconference, e-sharing system for NGO (E-NGO), effective email server, IP management and solution. CCC members NGOs

The above fora collectively aim to:

• establish a foundation of shared understanding around key issues facing civil society practitioners;

• provide ongoing opportunity for cross-learning and exchanging best practices on key aspects of development practice;

• build strong and proactive networks where expertise in these areas are continuously shared and learned for individual career and institutional development;

• establish a culture of dynamic and active organizational learning within NGO community in Cambodia;

• develop learning resources and document best practices and lessons learned on each area to serve ongoing learning among civil society practitioners and other interested stakeholders.

The above course aims to:

• build capacity of participant NGOs about the concepts, importance and tools of organizational effectiveness for NGOs in Cambodia;

• reflect and debate on NGO governance and accountability, sound financial management and sustainability, human resources management, organizational quality assurance and regeneration;

• promote good governance and practices within participant NGOs through compliance with the Voluntary Certification System (VCS).
