Cambodian NGOs Alliance for Cooperation (CNAC)

 

1.       INTRODUCTION:

CNAC is a group of Cambodian NGOs that was established to protect the rights of individuals and groups of people in society, and provide support to the Cambodian people for human resource development, democracy and development.  We have established this alliance to provide mutual assistance, and strengthen the cooperation and shared experience through seminars, study tours and monthly meetings.

2.    BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES:

The Cambodian NGOs Alliance for Cooperation (CNAC) was established in mid 1994 under facilitation of Mr. Sil Vineth, Director of SEDOC in participation with 15 CNGOs in Phnom Penh and provinces.  They were SEDOC, ADHOC, CADE, KWACD, RADE, KADSAP, KADRA, CAMFAD, CFDS, ACLEDA, CDFRY, CARDS, SCDA, KYA and PK.  At present CNAC membership has grown from 15 organizations to 53. 

CNAC objectives:

  • To share experience, knowledge and work with other organizational members;
  • To build the relationship and collaboration between local and international NGOs and governments;
  • To publish and provide information to NGOs and the public, and conduct training;
  • To facilitate and cooperate with government and NGOs in order to solve any problems concerning human rights and development.

3.    MAIN ISSUES AND ACTIVITIES 2003-2004:

  • Human rights, advocacy and democracy
  • Capacity building and research
  • Social security
